As a learning community centred in Christ, we walk hand in hand with God on our journey in faith.

Year 6

Building the Kingdon

Celebrating All Saints and All Souls.

Today we looked at the history behind why we celebrate

All Saints day.

Then we compared how Catholics in  England, Catholics in Mexico and  Muslims celebrate the passing of their loved ones.

Year 6—Sugar Skulls

During our day we looked at the  importance of sugar skulls during the Mexican celebration of Dia de los Muertos.

The skulls are often highly decorated and can have the name of the loved one engraved on the forehead.

The skulls are placed onto the ofrenda (altar for the departed) or at the graveside to honour those who have passed away and to welcome them back.

We used 3 different art techniques to create our skulls:

Felt collage

Paper and pen

Printing.
