As a learning community centred in Christ, we walk hand in hand with God on our journey in faith.
At English Martyrs’, science and faith go hand in hand: through our Catholic Social Teaching, pupils are taught about respect and dignity for our bodies; climate change and its impact on habitats; pollution and our collective responsibility towards the environment. Scientific phenomena, for example, evolution and creation, are often explored through biblical scripture and writings from other faiths and none. Looking at a range of world views in this way supports pupils in sharing their ideas and building a mutual respect for one another. At our school, science is explored through the virtues of curiosity and activeness – in this way, we aim to nurture our pupils into articulate, knowledgeable and skilled young scientists.
