Parent Workshops

English Martyrs Catholic Primary School is committed to providing a high quality education. We believe that all children have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum. This includes children with medical needs or those who experience other barriers to learning. This may include learning difficulties, sensory or physical impairment and emotional or social development needs.

We believe that all children should be equally valued in school. We strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination, and to develop an environment where all children can flourish and feel safe. This does not mean that we will treat all learners in the same way, but will respond to learners in ways which take account of their varied life experiences and needs.

Children who have been identified as requiring SEN support have their progress reviewed each half term by their class teacher. Next steps in learning are then identified. They will then discuss how this can be achieved with both pupils and their parents or carers. In most cases this can be achieved through quality first teaching, but in some cases targeted support with the application of proven intervention may be required. These include direct phonics and language narrative. In some cases, external agencies (such as school and pupil support, speech and language therapy and educational psychology) will be called on for advice so that specialist support can be proved which is tailored to the needs of the child.

Thank-you for attending the SEN coffee morning on 15th March 2019.

''What a fantastic turnout at English Martyrs' RC Primary School today for the Parent's SEN Coffee Morning.

Great to work with the SENCo (Mrs Powell) and colleagues from Communication and Autism team (CAT) and the Speech, Language and Communication Team (SALT).''
