OutRight Campaign Poem

Our school Minnie Vinnies worked together to come up with a powerful poem highlighting the impacts of climate change. This was used as the basis for our OutRight Campaign Video.

English Martyrs' UNICEF OutRight Campaign Video

Here at English Martyrs' we believe in protecting our planet.

We understand that our future is in our hands, and it's up to us as children to make a stand and slow down the impacts of climate change.

By creating this video, we have supported the UNICEF OutRight Campaign to learn all about climate change and its impacts, as well as being proactive in trying to slow down its effects, especially in our local community.

We all worked hard to create posters that show the effects of climate change on our rights, as well as showing how we perceive climate change from our own perspective.

Our desired outcome is to encourage people worldwide to reflect on their actions and the devastating impacts on our environment.

For our community, we are petitioning to get Birmingham City Council to provide the streets of Sparkhill and its surrounding areas with more recycling facilities.

So...

Please watch our video and share it too.

Please sign our petition, and help us pursue.

Please help us to protect our rights and follow our mission.

That's the children of English Martyrs' biggest ambition.

OutRight Campaign 2021/22 - Climate Change

This year our school is participating in the OutRight campaign – a youth campaign run by children, for children, in association with Unicef UK. It aims to help children to speak out about their rights in the UK and abroad. The focus of OutRight 2020/21 is climate change, a major global issue that threatens many children’s rights, including:

Article 24:

The right to the best health care possible, clean water to drink, healthy food and a clean and safe environment to live in

Article 27:

The right to food, clothing and a safe place to live

Article 28:

The right to an education

As part of the campaign, our children will be:

- Learning about climate change and how people around the world are affected by it

- Speaking to adults about climate change

- Celebrating World Children’s Day

- Calling on people in power to take action

- Creating an e-petition to call for changes in our local area

- Creating our own video that highlights the impact of climate change
