As a learning community centred in Christ, we walk hand in hand with God on our journey in faith.

We love Reading!

Reading for pleasure

In Year 2, we use ‘Book Talk’ to promote a love of reading and stories at home. We will share a story in class and then add a link to a video (below on this page) where the story is being read aloud. Your children can then share this story with you at home and complete a book review verbally.

Reading Garden

The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. Children's read-aloud (audiobook) with colour illustrations.

Cosy Time

Jo, Bessie and Fanny take their cousin Rick on an adventure he'll never forget to the magic Faraway Tree, where he meets Moon-Face, Silky the fairy and Saucepan Man, and visits all the different lands at the top of the Faraway Tree. Like the Land of Spells, the crazy Land of Topsy-Turvy, and the land of Do-As-You-Please, where the children ride a runaway train!

Home reading books

All reading books will now be assigned online. You will all receive your own login to the Big Cat e-library. Once logged in, you will see the book your teacher has assigned to you. If you need help please contact us or follow the user guide.

Children are expected to log on and read every night.

Reading books will be changed every Friday.

If your child has finished the book, encourage them to read it again and ask them questions to check their understanding of the book.

If you are experiencing long loading times for Big Cat, you may need to clear your browsing data to speed up the logging in process. Please see the PDF below explaining how to do this.
