In our learning about VE Day, we explored how it marks the end of World War II in Europe on 8th May 1945, when Germany surrendered and people across Britain and the world celebrated peace after many years of war. We learned that although it was a time of great joy, it was also a time to remember the millions of people who lost their lives and the sacrifices made by soldiers and civilians. Today, we still celebrate VE Day to remember the past, say thank you, and learn important lessons about peace, unity and freedom, helping us understand why it is important to be kind, respectful and work together to create a better future.
