We celebrated European Day of Languages in school with a special focus on Spain and the Spanish language. To mark the occasion, children came to school dressed in the colours of the Spanish flag, creating a vibrant sea of red and yellow throughout the school.

Throughout the day, each class took part in a Spanish-themed activity. Children explored Spanish language and culture through a range of exciting learning opportunities, including practising speaking and listening skills, learning new Spanish vocabulary, creating artwork inspired by Spain, and discovering interesting facts about Spanish traditions. During our Gifts from God Assembly, representatives from each class proudly shared their learning, celebrating the many ways languages help us connect with others.

The day provided a valuable opportunity to develop the children's cultural capital by broadening their understanding of another country, its language and its culture. Through these experiences, pupils gained a greater appreciation of the diverse world around them and recognised how learning languages can help us communicate, build relationships and connect with people from different backgrounds. The theme, “We Are Connected,” reminded us that languages open doors to new experiences and help bring communities together across the world.

We are very proud of the enthusiasm shown by all the children and look forward to continuing our Spanish learning throughout the year.
