Year 1
REFUGEES YOU ARE WELCOME HERE!
In Year 1, we listened to the story of Ali from Afghanistan. He had to flee his home, be separated from his parents and join a new school where he did not know the language. We discussed how that would feel and identified ways we could welcome refugees into our school family.
Year 1 wants the world to know that we welcome refugees!
We have been reading stories and sharing poems that teach us about the refugee crisis, including 'There's a Boy Just Like Me'. We are also learning to say hello in different languages through the book 'Welcome to our World'. Through learning simple phrases and discussing different cultures, we are prepared to welcome children from all around the world to our school. We stand together!
