Our Vision

Our Faith and Modern Foreign Languages

'As a learning community centred in Christ, we walk hand in hand with God on our journey in faith'

Our learning at English Martyrs’ is guided by our mission statement. We are school community where over 30 different languages are spoken. As a school, we promote the social, moral, spiritual, vocational and cultural development of each individual through Catholic Social teaching, the Catholic virtues, Global Goals and the UNICEF Rights of the Child. We value and aim to strengthen the gifts and talents God has given each child to bring to the classroom to enhance everyone’s learning experience.

Through our Spanish curriculum, pupils live out their journey of faith through the links that are explored with the Spanish language and pupils’ home language; Hispanic religions and cultural traditions with the many faiths that make up our school community.

It is our mission to provide children with a high quality education so that they recognise the shared values that many nationalities have which are underpinned with mutual respect and dignity. Our curriculum has been designed so that children have a holistic understanding of the world in which they live in: to be educated and cultured global citizens who appreciate the diversity of the world which God has created for us.

At English Martyrs' we follow the primary Languages Network scheme of work which is aligned with the 2014 National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages.
