At English Martyrs’ School we recognise that the personal development of pupils, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally, plays a significant part in their ability to learn, achieve and prosper. We endeavour to provide an education that provides pupils with opportunities to explore and develop their own values and beliefs, spiritual awareness, high standards of personal behaviour, a positive, caring attitude towards other people, an understanding of their social and cultural traditions; demonstrate a commitment to serve God and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of the cultures within our city & the wider world.
SMSVC at English Martyrs’ enables pupils to grow and flourish into confident individuals who appreciate their own worth and that of others. Our children leave KS2 able to look back on an interesting and happy primary education, proud of their successes. They are confident that they have worked hard and made friends and are able to encourage others. The foundation has been laid for them to be a responsible member of society, interested in the world around them and keen to make a positive contribution to society. They are willing to share and reflect upon their own and others’ faiths, able to work with others, regardless of gender or race, understand changes and are eager for challenge.
