Lenten Fundraising

As always I have been totally amazed by the generosity of our parents and children at English Martyrs’. During the period of Lent we have been looking at times in which not only the Christian faith but our many other faiths in English Martyrs’ consider the needs and give alms to others.  This year we have been supporting the work of Father Hudson’s Care which is a charity who work with many different needs in our local community. The children have raised money through the following activities

Fundraising during Advent

Following on from the success of last year- we are once again raising money to create shoeboxes of goods for the homeless. These are given to the Sifa Fireside Centre, who give them out at their Christmas party. Any extra money is donated to the centre to buy sleeping bags or other goods they need to keep the centre running.

This year we hope to raise money in 2 ways

- making and selling a product or organising games.

Year 6 will be creating the shoeboxes - we link this to our theme which is

Health for Life Celebration

Health for Life is an exciting initiative funded by the Mondelez International Foundation as part of a broader programme fulfilling the organisation's commitment to help make 'a sustained, demonstrable improvement in healthy lifestyles across Birmingham schools'

The four key elements that we are focussing on include:

  • Healthy eating and cooking skills
  • Growing food
  • Physical activity
  • Family involvement

On 22/06/15 some children from the school council attended a celebration of work ceremony at Edgbaston Cricket ground. Please view the pictures below linked to the work we have done so far at English Martyrs' to promote a healthier lifestyle.
